Natural Mouth Wash. Dr. Santosh. BDS
Alum : Mouth Wash : Dental Surgeon Dr. Santosh suggests us to go for a natural mouthwash with Alum mixed water for your better dental health.
Alum (fitkari) cleans and protects the mouth through its natural astringent, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties.
It acts as a powerful oral cleanser via several distinct mechanisms :
Bacterial Reduction : Alum suppresses harmful bacteria (such as Streptococcus mutants) in the mouth, which helps prevent dental cavities, plaque formation, and bad breath.

Tissue Astringency: As an astringent, alum causes oral tissues and gums to physically tighten and contract. This process restricts blood flow to irritated areas, which reduces bleeding gums and swellings.
Rapid Healing (Mouth Ulcers) : By drawing out excess fluid and forming a protective layer over lesions, alum accelerates the healing of mouth ulcer.
How to use it safely : Rinse Formulation : Dissolve a small pinch of alum powder or a tiny chunk of alum stone in warm water (optionally with a pinch of rock salt).
Swish this mixture gently in your mouth for 30 seconds.
Important Warning : Do not swallow the mixture, as ingesting alum can cause nausea, vomiting, or severe gastrointestinal discomfort.

How to prevent Cavities in your teeth.
*
Dr.Rakhi. Dr. Madhup. Dr. Aakash.
*
A cavity (dental caries) is a permanently damaged area or hole in the hard surface of your tooth caused by progressive tooth decay. It develops when bacteria in your mouth feed on sugars and produce acids that erode the protective outer enamel.
Symptoms : Symptoms often change as the decay goes deeper :
Early stages : Visible white, brown, or black chalky spots on the tooth surface.
Advanced stages : Sharp or dull tooth pain, heightened tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods and drinks, and visible holes or pits in the teeth
To prevent cavities effectively, you must maintain consistent oral hygiene, optimize your fluoride intake, and limit sugary or acidic foods.
Cavities form when bacteria in your mouth feed on sugars and produce acids that erode your tooth enamel.
By adopting a structured preventative routine, you can neutralize these acids and even reverse early stages of decay.
Core Oral Hygiene Routine Brush Twice Daily :
a. Clean your teeth for a minimum of two minutes every morning and night.
b. Do not skip the nighttime brush, as your saliva flow drops while sleeping, leaving teeth vulnerable to acid damage.
c. Spit, Don't Rinse : After brushing, spit out the excess toothpaste but do not rinse your mouth with water. Leaving a thin layer of toothpaste on your teeth allows the fluoride to continue strengthening your enamel.
d. Floss Every Day : Use dental floss or interdental brushes once a day to clear away hidden plaque and food trapped between teeth where toothbrush bristles cannot reach.
e. Upgrade Your Toothbrush : Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to protect your gums. Replace it every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles begin to fray.
f. Diet and Eating Habits Cut Back on Sugars and Starches : Limit your consumption of sodas, juices, candies, and starchy items like chips or crackers. These foods supply continuous fuel to cavity-causing bacteria.
g. Reduce Snacking Frequency : Continuous snacking keeps your teeth under constant acid attack. If you consume sweet or acidic treats, eat them alongside major meals when saliva production is highest.
h. Drink Fluoridated Water : Drink tap water throughout the day. Water washes away lingering food particles, dilutes harmful mouth acids, and supplies tooth-strengthening minerals.
i. Chew Sugar-Free Gum: Chewing sugar-free gum after meals—especially gum containing xylitol—stimulates saliva production to naturally clean your teeth and neutralize acids.
j. Professional Care and Treatments Schedule Regular Exams: Visit your dentist every six months for a professional cleaning and check-up. Professionals can scrape away hardened tartar and catch early signs of decay before they turn into physical cavities.
k. Get Dental Sealants : Ask your dentist about sealants, which are thin protective plastic coatings painted onto the chewing surfaces of your back molars. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sealants block food from getting stuck in deep tooth grooves and prevent up to 80% of cavities'.
l. Use Fluoride Mouthwashes: If you are highly prone to decay, your dentist might recommend an over-the-counter or prescription fluoride mouth rinse to further protect your enamel.
Use this at a separate time from brushing so you don't rinse away your toothpaste's active ingredients.

Routine Cleaning :
-----------
Routine Cleaning : The 6 Core Steps of a Routine Cleaning
Oral Examination : The dental hygienist uses a small mirror to inspect your teeth and gums for inflammation, cavities, or other oral health concerns.
Scaling : Using specialized hand tools or an ultrasonic scaler, the provider removes calcified tartar and plaque from around the gum line and between your teeth.
Gritty Paste Polishing : After the tartar is removed, a high-powered electric brush and a gritty "prophylaxis paste" are used to scrub your teeth, removing lingering film and surface stains.
Professional Flossing : The hygienist expertly flosses between your teeth to clean deep into hard-to-reach areas and remove leftover plaque or polishing paste.
Rinsing : You will rinse out your mouth with water or a liquid fluoride solution to flush away all loosened debris
-------
Deep Cleaning : Meaning
---------
Answer : If we notice toothache , yellowing or staining over the teeth , persisting of bad breath, sensitivity increases, we need a routine cleaning in the dental clinic.
yellowing or staining over the teeth Tartar : Tartar (dental calculus) is hardened dental plaque may be noticed by all of us. It forms when a sticky film of bacteria is left on teeth and mineralizes over time.
Unlike soft plaque, tartar has a rough, porous texture and cannot be removed with a toothbrush or floss.
What is meant of deep cleaning required. A deep dental cleaning, clinically known as scaling and root planning, is a specialized gum therapy required to treat and halt advanced gum disease periodontitis.
Unlike a routine cleaning that only sweeps above the gum line, a deep cleaning targets the hidden areas below the gum line to save the supporting bone and prevent tooth loss.
Why Deep Cleaning is Required : Regular brushing cannot remove hardened tartar once it moves beneath your gums. A deep cleaning is necessary
a. to Stop Bone Loss
b. Eliminates subgingival bacteria that eat away at the jawbone supporting your teeth.
c. Prevent Tooth Loss, Strengthens the foundation of your teeth so they do not loosen or fall out.
d. Eliminate Chronic Infections : Scrapes away toxic plaque buildup and smooths root surfaces so gums can heal and reattach.
e. Reduce Bad Breath : Eradicates the deep-seated bacteria responsible for persistent foul breathe.
f. Protect Overall Health : Lowers the risk of systemic issues linked to gum bacteria, such as heart disease and diabetes.
When Deep Cleaning is Required. A dentist or periodontist will diagnose the need for a deep cleaning based on specific clinical signs during an examination.

Q. Why and when deep cleaning required. ?
Answer : If we notice toothache , yellowing or staining over the teeth , persisting of bad breath, sensitivity increases, we need a routine cleaning in the dental clinic.
Q. Is RCT successful ?
A. Yes if the team is experienced then RCT remains successful. Dr. Vishwanath.
Q. How many types of X rays are for dental purposes.
Answer : Dr. Aakash Bhatt. MDS.
There are two primary categories of dental X-rays :
a. Intraoral (images taken from inside the mouth) and
b. Extraoral (images taken from outside the mouth).
Dentists use these specific types :
a. Intraoral X-Rays - These provide the highest level of detail for checking individual teeth, roots, and bone health.
Bitewing : Captures the crowns of upper and lower teeth in one section. These are routinely used to detect cavities between teeth and to check the height of the jawbone to assess gum disease.
Periapical : Shows the entire tooth—from the crown down to the very tip of the root and surrounding bone. Used to diagnose issues like deep decay, root infections, abscesses, or bone loss.
Occlusal : Larger X-rays that capture the entire dental arch (upper or lower jaw) in one bite. These are helpful for pediatric dentistry to find unerupted teeth, cleft palates, or jaw fractures.
b. Extraoral X-Rays - These capture a broader view of the entire mouth, jaw, and skull, often looking at how teeth align with the face.
Panoramic : A machine rotates in a semi-circle around your head to capture all of the teeth, jaws, sinuses, and temporomandibular (TMJ) joints in one single image. Ideal for planning implants and spotting impacted wisdom teeth.
Cephalometric : Takes a side-profile view of your entire head and jaw. This is used extensively by orthodontists to plan braces and monitor jaw alignment.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) : Creates 3D images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan. It is primarily used for complex procedures like dental implants, root canals, and TMJ analysis.
